1.1 Background of the Study
Documentary films have proven to be vital tools for education, advocacy, and societal development, particularly in rural communities. These films can effectively disseminate information about modern agricultural practices, climate change adaptation, and sustainable farming techniques, thereby promoting agricultural development. In Zango-Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State, agriculture remains a cornerstone of the local economy, but challenges such as outdated farming methods, poor access to information, and climate-related issues persist (Yusuf & Dikko, 2024). Documentaries, with their blend of visual and factual storytelling, have the potential to address these issues by educating farmers, influencing policy decisions, and encouraging investment in agriculture.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Agricultural development in Zango-Kataf is hindered by limited access to information on modern farming techniques and poor dissemination of government policies. While other communication tools have been utilized, their impact remains limited due to low engagement and accessibility. Documentary films, however, present an opportunity to bridge this gap, yet their usage and effectiveness in promoting agricultural development in the area remain underexplored (Abubakar & Adamu, 2023). This study seeks to investigate how documentary films can influence agricultural development in Zango-Kataf.
